About Me

I'm a photographer based in southern Illinois, specializing in minimalistic, black-and-white studio portraits and headshots. I work primarily with models and other artists. That said, I've worked with a variety of people over the years. Anyone and everyone is welcome in front of my lens.

I've photographed nearly 100 independent and agency-represented models in markets like St. Louis, Chicago, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, and Nashville, as well as dozens of other professionals, including stage and film actors, business entrepreneurs, community leaders, and more.

Outside of photography, I'm a husband and dad keeping a full 9-to-5 as a director of communications and magazine editor.

Working with Me

Expression and Light: These are the two critical elements present in all of my portrait work. Black and white photography enhances both, but we can get the job done in color as well if you so desire. Regardless, I work with all of my clients to get images that are simple but striking.

The art of portrait photography is really the art of conversation, empathy, listening, and observing. For my clients, it's about entering a relaxed environment, a place free of judgment and expectations, about taking the time you need to capture the image and personality you want to convey.

All clients will have a pre-shoot consult call with me to let you ask questions, discuss session details (wardrobe selections, hair, makeup, etc.), and better prepare you in general for the day of the shoot.

Any client is welcome to bring a friend, family member, or partner with them to the studio. For clients under the age of 18, a legal guardian must be present for the session.
